The City Iranians Need has been launched in the Habitat III Conference

Iran’s National Urban Campaign Disclosed “The City Iranians Need” booklet on 20 October 2016, the last day of the United Nations Third Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development in Quito, Ecuador. The City Iranians Need is the outcome of an intensive period of activity by UN-Habitat Office in Iran with minimal resources and great voluntary and outstanding contribution of Iranian individuals, NGOs, artists, and particularly young professionals.

In this ceremony which was held at “Urban Library”(Case de la cultura Hall in Quito), The City Iranians Need, the only citizenship report of the world, was disclosed in the presence of some representatives  from UN-Habitat and Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Conference participants.

In this ceremony, Siamak Moghaddam, chief of UN-Habitat Office in Tehran, emphasized that The City Iranians Need shows Iranians’ high sensitivity to their urban future and positive-thinking about life environment as well. Moreover, Sara Habibi the urban planner of this office said: at the time that we have the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda in hands, this book can bring motivations to Iranians to take steps towards implementation of these documents. 

The City Iranians Need consists of three main parts: Description of the city people want, Drivers of Change, and the Linkage between TCIN and the SDGs.Jointly managed by UN-Habitat Iran and National Land and Housing Organization, Iran’s National Urban Campaign had begun its 3-step process (Gathering data, Processing, and Reaching Consensus) since October 2015 in order to present the city Iranians want to the world in the Habitat III Conference.
