Dubai Real Estate Institute: Future Cities Forum 2017 – Shaping the Future for the SDG’s

“Future Cities Forum 2017 – Shaping the Future for the SDG’s” is the title of the upcoming Urban Thinkers Campus, which will be held over three days;from 2-4 October 2017 in Dubai. The Urban Thinkers Campus is an initiative of UN-Habitat's World Urban Campaign, based on “The City We Need” principles. The Campus is organized by Dubai Real Estate Institute and the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI).
The Urban Thinkers Campus is an open space for critical exchange between urban actors who believe that urbanization is an opportunity and can lead to positive urban transformations.
After Habitat III in Quito, the WUC Steering Committee has decided to continue engaging stakeholders in the post-Habitat III era by launching Urban Thinkers Campus Phase 2 (UTC 2.0). The UTC 2.0 is envisaged to be action oriented which will focus on developing actual action plans and implementable road maps in order to implement the New Urban Agenda.
The Campus will be a place to share, learn, and brainstorm. It is also envisioned as a platform to build consensus between partners engaged in addressing urbanization challenges and proposing solutions to future urban and suburban challenges.
Thanks to its open format, the Campus gives all the participants the opportunity to express their ideas and share their voices; Based on open facilitated sessions, permitting a high level of participant interaction.
The campus sessions will be themed as below:

  • Wellness and Happiness
  • Innovative Asset Management
  • Smart and Sustainable living
  • Real Estate Policies and Regulation
  • Real Estate Investment and Innovation
  • Affordable Housing

To successfully achieve these outcomes, participants are advised to attend the Campus with a high mindset and ought to be prepared to express their opinion in an open minded debate.

Finally, from a very strong belief that the young generation are the leaders of the future, and their presence will enrich our dialogue and add a different flavor to the campus activities, we are involving Youth to be part of brainstorming awareness sessions hearing from them speaking about SDGs challenges and setting future goals for future communities. The Campus will also host, for the second time, talented fully ambitious children from ages 6 to16, who will have the opportunity to express their ideas about sustainable development through paintings and art work. The young generation is the future of our society and we are sure that their presence in the Urban Thinker Campus in Dubai will add a different perspective to our event and we will be crafting with them a memorable experience and great ambitions.
