WAMAMA TUNAUWEZO (Women have the Power) - Engaging Women in Ensuring Safety

Huairou Commission in partnership with Coalition of Grassroot Women and Women members of the County Assembly Caucus under the title, “Wamama Tunauwezo” (women have the power) intends to have an all rounded discussion that will include everyone in our society for us to achieve this dream city.
Polycom Development Project has been charged with the responsibility of taking lead. The youths, academicians, politicians, architects, women, the media, lawyers and the police will all converge from 1 -3 September 2015 and come up with what all can do to achieve The Dream City We Need.
 
The 3 day Campus will bring together 90 participants to dialogue:
Day 1 – Grassroots Representation: community constituent groups including women, youth, influential local groups, the Nyumba Kumi initiative and religious groups to discuss and come up with proposals towards the City We Need is Safe. They will produce a document of recommendations and select representatives to present it on Day 3.
Day 2 – Civic & Professional Representation: the County Government, Ministry of Devolution and Planning, United Nations representatives, academicians, researchers, and peace practitioners will discuss how to achieve safety in the city and develop a document of workable recommendations. Representatives will be selected to present this document on
Day 3. Day 3 – Integration: representatives from Day 1 and Day 2 will present their documents and work to produce a final list of recommendations for The City We Want Is Safe. These will be presented at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in 2016.
