UTC INDUSTRY SECTOR IN PERU FEMUMALC-UNICON

On Sunday, July 16th, in the south of city of Lima was held the innovative Urban Thinkers Campus with Industry Sector, to link the NUA with Global Compact of Social Responsibility.
 
The implementation of NUA need the commitment of different stakeholders, one of them is the Private Sector, in specific the Industry Companies of Construction and Building. Which have a vital role to improve the cities, and with workers and little entrepreneurs of construction have the responsibility to make safe and resilient houses to neighborhoods, human settlement and slums.
 
This UTC-Industry Sector was carried out with a workshop “Building Safe” organized jointly Peruvian Corporation UNICON (one of the most important Company in the construction sector) and FEMUM ALC. CENEPRED the governmental national Centre to prevention and information on risk of disasters, and Concremax Company are sponsors.
 
 
on behalf of UNICON, Ing. Enrique San Roman Manager of Operations Office, gave the welcome speech to the inauguration, then the opening presentation was held by Olenka Ochoa (expert and leader of UTC Binational in Peru) explaining the challenges from Nueva Agenda Urbana, the global and national diagnosis, the principles of NUA, the right to the city, the components of housing as  human right,  and the role of Private Sector in the NUA.
 
The second part of the Workshop included the presentation of Ing. Ronald Sotomayor Chief of Innovation Office of Unicon, of Ing. Letti Ochoa delegate from CENEPRED, and Ing.Julio Arroyo expert of security environment of Unicon  Company. They  explained to the participants the relevant information and toolkits to make safe and resilient houses and building, and the importance of prevention of risk disasters. The speakers were the Ing. Sotomayor, Arroyo y L.Ochoa.
 
 
This UTC was developed in the auditorium of UNICON headquarter, located in the south of Lima metropoli. Also the workshop included an “Expo of products to Construction”.
 
Finally, the closing ceremony was lead by Ing. Angelica Risco as Manager of Health, Security and Environment of UNICON. In her speech the emphasis was the social responsibility of UNICON with urban development and the opportunity of this event to connect the company goals with NUA.
 
 
It should be noted, this is the second phase of UTC Binational Mexico-Peru, developed by FEMUM-ALC and MIRA networks, with the support of Huairou Commission.  And during this year they are organizing UTC activities in each countries, and also organized 2 two UTC international, the first in February in the center of Mexico City (MEX CD), and the second this July in Coyoacán Delegation (Mex.CD).
