Climate Action:

Maria Perbellini is the Dean of the School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) at the New York Institute of Technology. She is the co-founder of Pongratz Perbellini Architects, an award-winning firm internationally recognized and widely published.Under her leadership, SoAD has been at the forefront of public interest and community design, working on multi-scalar projects and climate-responsive proposals to engage marginalized communities and vulnerable environments affected by natural disasters, social and economic inequities.

Examples include: The Italian Virtual Pavilion; the R-Cubed, Best Practices for Community-based and Multidisciplinary, Comprehensive Disaster ResponseHousing Density: From Tenements to Towers; Modular Infrastructure Construction in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico; Building Resilient Communities in Harlem, NY; Emergency Cores post-hurricane recovery, Puerto Rico; Refugee Housing in Germany;  and Hurricane Sandy Displaced Housing in NYC, among other initiatives.
