ARCADIS: Shelter Program

In 2014, ARCADIS staff from all around the world participated in the Shelter Program, which is the partnership of ARCADIS with UN-Habitat to improve the quality of life in rapidly growing cities around the world. Over 150 ARCADIS staff members joined the initiative to provide support for UN-Habitat in 10 Shelter missions.


CORDAID: Stop Violence - Build a City Park

In an attempt to break the vicious circle of violence and poverty among young people in Mejicanos, San Salvador, Cordaid assists in constructing a City Park in close collaboration with the local municipality, residents and businesses. The construction work of the soccer field started in mid-October 2014.

CSR EUROPE: Sustainable Living in Cities Campaign

The Sustainable Living in Cities Campaign aims to work with business, national partner organizations, policy makers, urban sustainability experts and city stakeholders, toward the creation of local & regional sustainability alliances for the acceleration of urban sustainable development.

Housing for Life

The 2nd Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Forum: “Housing for Life”; will take place from 6-8 May 2014 in Monterrey, Mexico and is a space for multi-stakeholder collaboration from the public and private sectors, and civil society in general.

WWF: We Love Cities Campaign 2015

The search for the world's most loveable sustainable city 2015 is about to begin. 49 finalist cities will be revealed on 26 January 2015. Earth Hour invites people all over the world to nominate and vote for cities that have demonstrated a sincere commitment to the creation of sustainability.

Letter from the World Urban Campaign Chair

#WeLoveCities: We Love Cities Campaign, WWF. WWF's Earth Hour City Challenge has continued to expand its scope and has attracted 163 cities from 17 countries. The Challenge invites cities to submit inspiring and credible urban development plans that dramatically increase the city's use of renewable energy. #SustainableLiving: Sustainable Living in Cities Campaign, CSR Europe. Gathering a network of over 10,000 companies, the CSR Sustainable Living in Cities Business Impact Map will highlight examples of how the network is progressing towards the ambitious goal of establishing a new model of urban multi-stakeholder partnership. #EnergyForAll: Sustainable Energy for All 2030, Practical Action. Almost half the world’s population currently lives without modern energy. Projections show that the situation is likely to be the same in two decades time. As a result, billions of women, men and children will be denied the power to challenge their poverty. #MayorsForPeace: 2020 Vision Campaign, Mayors for Peace. The campaign arose out of the “Emergency campaign to ban nuclear weapons” launched by Mayors for Peace in 2003, and its focus is nuclear disarmament, although the Mayors for Peace Covenant gives the organization a mandate to work on a broad range of issues from the elimination of poverty to the protection of the environment.
