UNICEF joins the World Urban Campaign to promote children and youth issues

Nairobi, 20 May 2021 – UNICEF, the United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide, has joined the World Urban Campaign to help increase awareness on challenges faced by children and youth in urban areas. UNICEF and UN-Habitat have been collaborating for more than five years through joined normative and operational activities to address children and youth issues.

Through the World Urban Campaign, a global advocacy platform coordinated by UN-Habitat to raise awareness on the urban dimension of the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda, UNICEF will contribute to promoting key messages and specific urban solutions to address children and youth issues.

Areas of specific collaboration include the Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC), a series of collaborative events to dialogue on urban issues and generate synergies for action and I’M A CITY CHANGER, a promotional campaign giving a voice to individuals who take action in cities and communities.

The collaboration is meant to boost the children and youth agenda by sensitizing organizations working on urban issues and their respective audiences globally.
