IWD 2022 Messages
To raise awareness for gender parity and to strengthen women's and girl’s voices for equality and empowerment in an urbanizing world, we are seeking inspirational and supportive messages to recognize the contributions of women in building cities and communities that are safe, inclusive, just, resilient and sustainable (SDG 11) worldwide. Messages can be presented as a short 2 to 3-minute video, 5-minute one-on-one interviews, and/or written text. It will then be shared on the UEF website and social media channels to reach a wide audience. Our aim is to enhance women’s involvement in all aspects of urban development, from decision-making, urban design and planning to implementation and monitoring. The vision is to empower and enrich women’s leadership and representation in all areas of their life including the right to equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, equal opportunities and the end to bias, prejudice and discrimination for a just and sustainable tomorrow. Please submit your message to Ilda Cordeiro, Programme Manager, at ilda.cordeiro@ueforum.org no later than March 4th. There will be a selection of messages presented at the UTC.
IWD 2022 Theme
The theme for this year is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all.
