EGYPT URBAN CAMPAIGN: Call for Manifesto Contributions

We are pleased to invite you to participate in an Egypt Urban Campaign initiative as part of the World Urban Campaign by UN-Habitat in preparation for the World Urban Forum in Cairo this year. This initiative is led by the Architecture and Urban Design Department (ARUD) at Nile University and the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), building upon previous ARUD research, which you can access at [https://lnkd.in/d4QUxSxu].

This initiative aims to address the challenge of cities worldwide exploring new ways to improve the lives of their citizens while balancing the demands of rapid technological and urban development. This has led to smart cities leveraging technology to create more efficient and sustainable urban environments. As cities evolve into smartness, they need to pay more attention to the human aspects of this transition.

In pursuing this, we invite you to contribute a manifesto expressing your insights on smart cities from a people-centred lens. Collectively, this would serve as a foundational document to engage policymakers, urban planners, technologists, and stakeholders in a discourse towards creating urban environments that leverage technology to improve the quality of life for residents, enhance efficiency and livability, and promote sustainability. You are welcome to submit your manifesto using the attached InDesign template in a workable format.

Important dates:

Call manifesto submissions: 6.6.2024

Deadline for receiving manifesto submissions: 7.7.2024

Humanizing Smart Cities EUC event: 30.7.2024

We also encourage you to share the call with your connections to participate in the manifesto writing by sharing this link and the poster attached - form submission link https://lnkd.in/dbYpHqzs].
